Vets struggle at Ashford tournament

September 2011

NBHC vets couldn't regain the title at the annual Ashford veterans tournament, this Saturday 3rd September. Having missed the tournament last year the team was hoping to repeat their successes of 2007 and 2008 when they carried away the trophy in both years. It was not to be; although they scored in all four of their games they were unable to win any of 30 minute contests and failed to reach the semi finals. The only consolation was that they recorded more points than three of the four teams in the other pool and should the draw have been different may have got through to the knock out stage.  Skipper Alan Kemp said, "27 degree heat, pre-season lack of fitness and a combined age of nearly 600 years conspired against us."
