New Beccs youngsters win the league

May 2013

New Beccs development side have finished their first season as league champions. And very worthy champions too. In October, the boys aged 14 to 16, hadn't won a single one of their first five games and were bottom of the league table but travelled to Canterbury for the final game of the season as league leaders and needing only a point to take the title. In a tough encounter at Polo Farm, the development side were behind for most of the game and found themselves 3-2 down with the clock running down. But with just three minutes to play, they scored a dramatic equaliser to confirm their position as league champions.

It's been a fabulous season for the development side. The team has improved immeasurably, and played some fantastic hockey, with great determination as well as a sense of fun. And everybody who has played alongside or  watched the boys this season, has enjoyed themselves too. Well done lads!
