Development side top the league

April 2013

New Beccs development side is top of the league with one game to go.  The Mens 3rd team has reached the top of Kent Open League Division 3 for the first time this season and as we approach the final fixture, only need to secure a draw away to Canterbury to win the league.

As the graph above reflects, the new side, which was formed at the start of this season took only one point from its first five fixtures and was rooted to the foot of the table by 20th October. But that was the turning point - as fitness, confidence, skill and playing together all improved, the team went from strength to strength, and it has dropped only 7 points in the 15 games since.  New Beccs has stolen the top spot held by Folkestone for most of the season with just  next Saturday's game to play. Having finished all their fixtures, Folkestone are now out of the running. Only Old Bordenians, currently fourth, can steal the show if New Beccs lose and Old Bs win - and overturn an 11 goal advantage.  So New Beccs will have to continue their winning form right to the end
