Report: We arrived with 9 and few willing defenders. Having come up with an innovative 2 3 3 formation the skipper was hugely relieved when Welcome lent us 2 of their best players, both defenders.....a great tribute to an old fashioned friendly club. We played very slick hockey in the first half especially the Mayes brothers down the right and moved the ball around very quickly. This led to some lovely goals and there would have been more had we been more willing to move the ball laterally and backwards as well as forwards. Hursty was a reassuring presence in goal despite one pass to the centre forward (kickers on wrong feet!) and one fabulous save at the end to preserve a clean sheet indicated a career higher up the club if he ever takes keeping seriously. A nice run out to start the season and a composed debut by Tunc in defence...welcome to the club.
