Report:
A hard fought local derby. A pure development team from BromBeccs (well
apart from a ringer called Brendan who irritatingly scored twice and
celebrated wildly) always looked cultured but our more direct approach
looked more likely to produce goals apart from the fact our shots kept
hitting Neil Berry and his fellow defenders and usually were deemed
dangerous or missing target. As half time approached scoreless,
disaster struck. Slater P collapsed with a torn hamstring and is out for
the season. At half time we came in 2 down with the captain applying
first aid in forlorn hope Pete would recover immediately.
We tried lots of things in the second half, fouling Brendan (which
produced a delayed but robust reaction....he did learn something from
Jeff!) seeing how much Spencer could irritate the oppo, playing with 12,
but we couldn't score until a great cross from Andrew Ram was cooly
converted by Andy Long. We pushed forward and with a classic counter
punch Brendan scored again and BromBeccs defended without too much
problem. |
