Report:
We started like a dream creating half a dozen good chances through great passing with good ball speed with Matt Milner and Josh Slater prominent. Spencer gave us a deserved lead and we looked set fair.
Gravesham are however a robust and resilient side and showed great determination in the tackle and in getting to the ball first making good use of their size and weight advantage.
They got a deserved equaliser and only excellent last ditch tackling and goal line clearances from Boris and Jeff, whose commitment never waived, kept us level. We continued to look the better side as our 4 man midfield limited Gravesham to long speculative passes. Suddenly an atypical long pass of our own was superbly swept in by Spencer for his 8th goal in 4 games. This advantage increased following a goal mouth melee when the skipper crashed a ball via the winded keepers chest 3 inches over the line.
Gravesham continued to press and scored a second when a prone player deflected the ball past a stranded Reggi, we held out and just about deserved to win a close and hotly contested game. |
