Report:
This week we saw a good Holcombe side with a couple of very good play makers in midfield and a super goal scorer. It was a brand new pitch that was a lot more bumpy than we have seen before and they knew how to play on it. That is not taking anything away from their win, however if we played like we can do and have a number of times this season, then we would have given them a very good game and quite
easily seen another 3 points.
We welcomed into the 2's with open arms, Andy Ram who was easy to slot in anywhere he was asked. He is forever improving his game and
I'm sure we will see the Ram brothers take over the club at some point.
Nkoni returned from a week off, obviously too tired to play 2 matches in a row, and with his lightning speed again troubled their forwards throughout. The pitch was proving to be a bit of a hassle when the ball did not flow as expected.
James Grey and Addrienne have shown themselves in defence throughout this season and have worked really hard, battling and challenging for every ball. James wins man of the match this week, partly because
I can't give it to myself, but mainly for his team play and a great effort once again. James, you can write the next match report!
We had a very strong midfield on paper, but it did not quite connect and flow as we have previously.
Brendan, Steve, Martin H and Alex N (sometimes Andy Ram) all worked hard but sometimes the game lost it's fluidity and counter attacks were not sharp enough. Matt Davies up front made a number of good runs and unfortunately it was not his day, this because as he was sent off by a lovely umpire. It was very harsh but such is the beautiful game at times. Matt, however did not let it affect his game any further and go his head up and came on all refreshed, the break obviously did him some good. A rots system would be good for next time to see who's turn it is to be sent off, as Matt and
Brendan keep hogging the touch line.
All in all, joking aside, what can we take away from this game?
We have a strong enough side this season to be challenging at the top of the table and not wanting to lose any games, and expecting to win all.
We showed towards the end that when pass the ball around, look at passing back wherever you are on the pitch and move off the ball we link up very well and cause a lot of trouble for the opposition.
Once again everyone remained positive and worked hard. Next week 12 at Home HSBC. Ours for the taking! |
